Christmas Shopping

I did a little bit of Christmas Shopping on the Square today. I started at Village Station Antiques and got three of the cutest Christmas Hand Towels. One of them says "Dear Santa, Define Good", another one says "Free the Reindeer" and the last one says "Dear Santa, Is it too late to be good!". They were $8 each and are well made and very unique. I also got an antique china ring holder for $5 for my daughter in law. I picked up 2 packages of South Carolina Cocktail Napkins at $3.50 each to have on hand for Friendship gifts. I then went to The Village Shop and got some real nice coasters with the South Carolina Palm Tree on them. I picked up some Holiday Tea at Whitworth Trading Co. so I thought I accomplished a good bit considering I am still hobbling around with an injured leg. I treated myself to lunch with my hubby and a friend at the Village Baker and it was delicious. Have you been? If not, you need to check all the shops and restaurants in Pendleton.

Pendleton is a great place to be

Thank you to Eddie Nail and the other organizers of the Childrens Games a couple of weeks ago. Those children sure did have a fun Saturday! Thank you to Bonnie Wortham for the wonderful European Arts and Music Fair. It was great. It is so wonderful to see the town filled with people. I hope they took the time to visit our wonderful shops and restaurants and I know many did.

Ok. I have a big surprise coming soon. The Ohme Bug will be hidden in one of the businesses listed on the Pendleton Businesses lens and whoever finds my Ohme Bug will win a prize. I will be giving you more details soon but it will be fun!

Fall Harvest Festival

The Fall Harvest Festival held on October 11 and sponsored by the Pendleton Area Business Association was a huge success. Jean Vegod was the chairperson and she did an excellent job. The weather cooperated and the overall tone of the event was joyous.

Village Station Antiques

I stopped by Village Station Antiques to get their donation for the Poppers for Evening Under The Stars at Woodburn. Gail is always so good to support local events and she is very much appreciated. Of course, I had to look around while I was in there and found some goodies that I wanted to tell you about. Village Station Antiques has a wonderful assortment of dish towels. They are all throughout the store so you have to browse around. I got two for my daughter in law that are blue checked with a stencil of shrimp on them. They live on the coast and have a blue kitchen so I felt this was perfect. I asked Gail about small individual molds for Tomato Aspic. I remembered that my mom used to have the individual molds but I haven't seen them in awhile. Of course, she had them. Please stop by and visit this beautiful shop on the square and visit their website. Both are a treat!

Be A Good Citizen

I have always felt that it is my responsible as a citizen of Pendleton to support the local businesses and hope you feel the same way. Pendleton Businesses draw some tourist traffic but that isn't enough to keep a business going. They need the local traffic and that means you and me. Let's rally for our businesses and keep Pendleton Alive - Think Pendleton!

Liberty Hall Inn Cafe was the perfect setting for our Poppers Meeting last week. Poppers are a fun part of Evening Under The Stars which is coming up soon. Need tickets? Let me know. Now back to lunch. It was wonderful. I had ......well, you guessed it.........Chicken Salad.....and it was great. One of the gals had the Crab Cakes and she says that is her favorite thing to order at Liberty Hall Inn Cafe. She says that it is "out of this world". We really enjoyed our lunch/meeting. I think you would enjoy dining there, too so please make your reservations soon for a wonderful lunch or dinner. CHICKEN SALAD IN PENDLETON

I love Chicken Salad and that is my favorite thing to order for lunch. I have tasted everyone's Chicken Salad on the square and am here to tell you that it is all great. They are each different but each one is delicious. I am glad that I don't have to judge them.

Islander Pub & Grille - Pineapple Chicken Salad - this is served inside pineapple which has been scored for easy eating. It is surrounded by beautiful fruit such as grapes, kiwi, and melons and topped with walnuts............DELICIOUS.

Pendleton Cafe and Coffee Company - Their Chicken Salad is their most popular dish and rightfully so. It is wonderful. I need to find out if they sell it by the quart because it would be wonderful to take on trips or to have at home for special occasions.

1826 On The Green - Lorett makes her mom's Chicken Salad that is out of this world. It is called Rusty's Chicken Salad. She serves it with this delicious flat bread. Oh my, I am getting hungry!

Guess What I found at the Mercantile!

I went to the 20 yr celebration at The Mercantile yesterday and they have these beautiful, very fragrant reed diffusers. I got the "Beach" fragrance and the container I choose is so beautiful. It really gives a very fresh scent in the house. I love it!
